St Anthony's Family Care

Services:

High Support Program

St Anthony’s Long Day Care: High Support Program offers support to young children who have developmental delays or disabilities, their families and to the community networks in which they are involved.

The aim of the service is to promote the child’s development and inclusion.
The service is available to children aged 2 to 5 years who have a diagnosed disability or developmental delay. Families residing  in the metropolitan area of Sydney can access services, although priority is given to families in the Inner West.

The High Support Program identifies the family as being most significant in the support and development of a child and in assisting them to achieve their greatest potential.

For this reason, staff within the service work closely with the family to identify key priorities and concerns, and to ensure that the program developed meets both the needs of the families and their ability to deliver and support it. In line with this “family-centred approach”, the High Support staff will develop an Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) to map out the goals and objectives of services to be provided.

The High Support staff is composed of multi-disciplinary professionals including a Special Education Teacher, a Family Support Worker, an Occupational Therapist and a number of skilled Child Care Workers.

The professional staff work with children to assist them to develop skills in the areas of:

  • Play Skills
  • Communication
  • Independence
  • Cognitive function
  • Social skills
  • Fine and gross motor skills

The service is currently provided through the Centre Based Childcare which provides edcuational therapy based programs to children aged 2 to 5 years. The Centre operates Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 6.00pm and provides services to 14 children per day. Each child has an Individual Education plan which is developed in conjuction with family members and service professionals to identify key learning areas. The daily timetable consists of both individual and group activities which are provided in the well equipped indoor and outdoor facilities.
