Early Learning Centre - Kinder Program 2-5 Years
The Kinder Program (also know as the High Support Program) offers support to young children who have a developmental delay or disability (predominantly autism) to promote child development and inclusion.
The High Support Program identifies the family as being most significant in supporting the child and assisting them to achieve their greatest potential. Staff within the service work closely with families to identify key priorities and concerns and to ensure that service delivery is consistent with the context of the family. Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP's) are developed which outline the goals and objectives of service delivery.
Each child has an Individual Education Plan (IEP) which is developed to identify key learning areas and establish objectives and strategies. The plan includes all key developmental areas as oultined by the Department of Community Services, Office of Childcare and includes the Creative Child, the Communication Child, the Healthy Physical Active Child, the Thinking Investigating Exploring Problem Solving Child, the Social Child and the Child's Sense of Self. All objectives and strategies are incorporated into the daily timetable.
The Kinder Room is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team including a teacher, Occupational Therapist and childcare staff with qualifications at both Diploma and Certificate III level. The program operates with a maximum of 9 children per day, allowing a staff to child ratio of 1:3 to provide greater support for skill development.
Children within the Kinder Room are provided with the opportunity to play and participate in organised activities with the Bambini and Jarjum children at different times of the day to promote inclusion and skill development.
