Recreation Program

The Recreation Program targets children and families from migrant backgrounds. These children are provided with opportunities to participate in sport and recreation activities that they would otherwise not have the opportunity to participate in. Sport and recreation is a vital means for engaging newly arrived young people into positive activities and experiences. During the activities workers are able to identify the needs and the level of support the young people require. The Group Programs Coordinator is able to provide information on various sporting opportunities and to link families and young people in with sporting clubs and associations.

The recreation activities are offered to all the families that access the playgroups across the five areas in Sydney. In order to ensure the activities are accessible they are provided at little or no cost and each area is given equal opportunity to participate in activities.

  • Weekend Activities: During each school term a number of activities are organised and held on the weekends. Activities held to date include sports days, AMF bowling, ice skating and a visit to the Sydney Aquarium. A program of activities is promoted across the service during playgroups each school term. Bookings are essential as places are strictly limited. To enquire about this program please contact the Group Programs Coordinator on 02 9747 5782.

  • School Holiday Program: A school holiday program is offered to all service users each school holiday period. These events are very popular and have been very well attended in the past. The school holiday period can be stressful for families and so it is very important that we are able to offer a variety of activities that are accessible, affordable and in which the whole family  can participate.. The types of activities we have held to date include a private movie screening, rock climbing, sports days and many family BBQ days. Some activities are open to all and others have limited spaces. Please contact the Group Programs Coordinator on 02 9747 5782 for further information.
