My experience as a volunteer at St Anthony’s:

My name is James Dzialowski; I have been a volunteer at St Anthony’s Family Care for four months.

I think being a child is the best time of your life. I decided to volunteer at St Anthony’s because I want to help children to have enjoyable experiences and put a smile on their face. I hope to make a career out of doing this one day.

At St Anthony’s, I have been involved with the Flexible Respite Service and the Migrant Services Vacation Care Program. During my experiences with the Respite Service we visited exciting locations all around Sydney including indoor swimming pools, horse riding and even the Zoo.

With Migrant Services I assisted Support Workers to set up a fun day of games and lunch for parents and children of different backgrounds and cultures.

The most rewarding part of the experiences I have had at St Anthony’s, are the little things like pushing the swing and playing games of table tennis with the children and just talking to and getting to know children and other staff members.

I hope to continue my involvement with St Anthony’s Family Care and I say that because of the friendly way I was treated. I am willing to assist wherever there is a need and hope to continue my learning experience.
