Bequests
St Anthony’s holds a very special place in many people’s hearts.
St Anthony’s Family Care has a long history of tending to families and children in need. Although the first St Anthony’s home was founded in 1922, our history stems right back to the selfless work during the mid 1800’s of Mary MacKillop. It was Mary MacKillop’s ideals of service and compassion towards the less fortunate that the Sisters of St Joseph sought to continue in their tireless dedication to St Anthony’s from the 1950’s onwards.
History tells us that there will always be people who, whether through disability or disadvantage will be vulnerably positioned at the fringes of society.
St Anthony’s long-term vision is to always help children and young people with disabilities to achieve their greatest potential in life. To continue providing our ever-needed services, we rely on the generosity of people like you.
Bequest
By choosing to leave a gift to St Anthony’s in your Will – known as a Bequest – you will help ensure that St Anthony’s has the means to care for families long into the future. Your legacy of care will never be forgotten.
Caring Hearts Group
When you notify St Anthony’s of your intention to leave a bequest, you gain inclusion into the Caring Hearts Group – a special number of people deeply committed to supporting our work and ensuring we can continue to support the mission of Mary MacKillop’s into the future.
Simple steps to making a Bequest
Step 1 – Decide what kind of Bequest you would like to make
Step 2 – Write St Anthony’s into your Will
Step 3 – Notify St Anthony’s of your intention to bequeath
The Types of Bequests
- Specific dollar amount. When you leave a specific dollar amount, you nominate the specific sum of money you would like the charity to receive.
- A percentage of your estate. This type of bequest allows you to specify what proportion of your whole estate you would like to leave to the charity. For example, you may choose to leave 5% of your entire estate as a bequest. You also have the option to leave a percentage of the residual of your estate as a bequest; that is, a percentage of what remains of your estate after inheritances have been distributed to others named in your will.
- Residual of your estate. When you choose this type of bequest, you nominate the charity to receive the remainder of your estate after inheritances have been distributed to others named in your will.
Your solicitor or trustee company will be able to advise you on the most suitable type of bequest for your circumstances.
